Update and changes to programme

October 27, 2010 § Leave a comment

Thanks to everyone who has booked on this conference, we have a lot of people coming and a lot of excellent workshops to interest everyone. If you intend to book for this conference then please do so soon, places are filling up.

We have had to make a couple of changes to the programme. Unfortunately Kwasi is unable to attend to present his workshop Library support for HE in FE through partnerships. We have instead programmed – Small is beautiful: supporting HE learners at a small land-based college with diverse information needs – Simonetta Taylor (Bicton College).

The second keynote is now Skills for HE: transitioning from FE to HE presented by Roz Howard of the University of Salford.

Hopefully this doesn’t incovenience anyone, and our programme is still bursting with great information for everyone involved in supporting HE in FE with the the library/LRC environment.

I look forward to meeting with all the delegates in a months time.

Thanks to many excellent offers from people to present we are now very close to having a programme in place for this event. Thanks to everyone who contacted us about presenting papers or workshops. We hope to be able to open bookings in the next couple of weeks and have a programme available. We are quite excited by the level of interest and believe that this will be a really valuable event for any library or LRC staff whose work includes partnerships involved in delivering HE in FE.

Call for papers: Partnerships for HE in FE – the library perspective

April 16, 2010 § Leave a comment

Library staff from the University of Plymouth, University of Bath and the University of the West of England are convening a one day conference to explore the issues around supporting and delivering library/information literacy provision for students studying HE level programmes delivered in the FE environment as part of an inter-institutional partnership. This one day event will be held at the University of the West of England in Bristol on the 26th November 2010. There will be four main themes, namely:

  • Communication and management within partnerships
  • Information Literacy and supporting an HE academic experience in FE
  • Progression/ transition
  • Programme approval and management

Any UK FE or HE staff working, or interested, in the library/LRC support of delivering HE in FE will be welcome. This event will offer an excellent opportunity for those involved to share good practice, discuss common issues, and create networks of support. We would like to invite Library and Learning Resource Centre colleagues to offer papers and workshops on aspects related to this type of engagement. Please email a brief summary of your paper or workshop to or by 12th April 2010.
